Online Craps Guide

live-craps-actionAnother one of the most famous and popular casino games out there – table craps! It is a game that can be played by up to 20 players at a time and it can get quite rowdy and cheery when played live because everyone is usually betting and rooting for the shooter. You have probably seen it in the movies when everyone cheers after the dice has been tossed and come up with total of 7. This makes craps a little different than the other casino games as it allows for some player interaction that you otherwise won’t get. The players feel that they can somehow determine the outcome as they are in control of the dice.

But playing craps online is quite different than the live version, that we have got to admit. It is not our favorite game as it just ain’t the same without the atmostphere of having others around cheering for every throw going against the back of the table and hoping for just their numbers to show up. It is a great way to get in on the action if you have a sudden urge, or maybe you just want to practice the rules or prefer to play under no scrutiny from other patrons. If so then online craps is just the thing for you!

A Note About Craps Bonuses

Just like with Blackjack, there are not many casinos that allow you to clear the wagering requirements while playing craps. This is for the same reason as with blackjack: the house edge is very low if you use correct strategy. But what is even better when bonus whoring playing craps is that you can wager on both sides of a bet making, sort of like arbitrage betting where you lock in a secure loss. Now why would anyone do this? Because then you can play more quickly and reduce variance clearing a bonus.

So for this reason you must be on the lookout for the bonuses that are decent as there aren’t many out there. And if there are, the ones we have listed for example, usually have huge wager requirements. I would think twice about clearing a bonus using craps if I where you. But an alternative is that you can clear the bonus using another game and then play with the bonus and winnings on craps.

Basic Guide to Playing Craps Online

craps-table-layoutThere is more to the game than what we will present here, especially when you play live, but for our sake when we play online there is a lot less to do. The dice gets thrown automatically so all you have to do is determine which bets you would like to place and set them up before you let the dice roll.

Craps is played in two phases: the come out roll and the point. These two comprise one round of craps. For a round of craps to even start, the player needs to at least wager on either the pass line bet or the don’t pass line bet. If the come out roll is either 2, 3 or 12 the pass line bet loses and the don’t pass line bet wins. If the come out roll is 7 or 11 the pass line bet wins and the don’t pass line bet loses. If the come out roll is 4, 5, 6, 8, 9 or 10 then none of the bets win, but they still stand and we go over to the point phase.

In the point phase the shooter rolls until he either rolls another point number or a 7. If a 7 is rolled the don’t pass line bet wins. If the point is rolled again the pass line bet wins. When either of these are rolled, the round ends and another come out roll is started.

Different types of Craps bets

We have already explained the two basic craps bets, pass line bet and don’t pass line bet, but there are other types of wagers you can make on the craps table. Much like roulette you can find there are several different types of wager options on the felt for you to choose from. We will give a quick overview over all of them:

Come bet – The pass bets can only be made during the come out roll and cannot be bet on again until the round has ended. The come bet makes up for this as this is just like the pass line bet, but you can only make this wager during the point phase. It then works like a pass line bet from there on that if the next roll is 7 or 11 you win, and 2, 3 or 12 you lose. 4, 5, 6, 8, 9 or 10 enters the point phase for your bet and a 7 makes you a loser and rolling the point again makes you a winner.

Don’t Come bet – This is the don’t pass line bet equivalent that can be made anytime during the shooter’s point phase. It is just like the don’t pass line bet, but can be made even after the point has been set up and the bet plays regardless of which phase or round the shooter is in.

Place bet – A place bet is a simple bet on one of the numbers 4, 5, 6, 8, 9 or 10 to show up before the next 7. If a 7 is rolled before the number you have bet on then the bet loses. This is rolled until either your number shows up or a 7.

Field bet – A bet on 2, 3, 4, 9, 10, 11 or 12 to show on the next roll. If that happens then you win. If a 5, 6, 7 or 8 is rolled you lose. There are different odds depending on which roll you get.

Proposition bets – These are bets on a single dice roll and a single digit coming up. You have bets like Any Seven (7), Yo Eleven (11), Horn Bets (2, 3, 11 or 12), Ace Deuce (3), Snake Eyes (2), Boxcars (12), Any Craps (2, 3 or 12), Hi-Lo (2 or 12), C & E and others. These bets can be made whenever the shooter is about to roll.

Hardway bets – Bet on getting either 4, 6, 8 or 10 the “hard way”. That means rolling a 2-2, 3-3, 4-4 or 5-5 before a seven is rolled. Naturally much harder and thus the bettor is offered odds on these.

There are other bets available but these are the most popular ones and those you should be aware of at least.

Craps Strategy

There isn’t much you can do in terms of playing strategy when having a go at craps online. You cannot control the dice so you are left to pure betting. The best thing you can do to give you the highest chance of winning is to play the bets that have the lowest house edge, which are the don’t come and don’t pass bets. Off course you need to have fun when playing, it is your money after all, but by betting on these low house edge bets will give you a higher chance of keeping your bankroll for longer.
